The Yungaburra Triathlon is held in April and provides an opportunity for competitors to compete in the only freshwater triathlon on the Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queensland. The triathlon takes in the World Heritage Rainforest area around Yungaburra and the Afghanistan Avenue of Honour at Tinaburra provides a fitting backdrop. Ten per cent of registration fees are donated to organisations that support returned service members. The Yungaburra Triathlon has supported and raised over AUD26,000 since 2014 for its charity partners Soldier On, Mates4Mates and the Afghanistan Avenue of Honour.
